Inspection for Defects in Cigars and Cigarettes

Ultran has performed analysis on cigars and cigarettes for a number of customers with a variety of purposes.

Analysis has shown that there appears to be a difference in transmittance of non-contact ultrasound when the density varies in a cigar. Voids and holes may also be apparent using non-contact ultrasound.

This capability is a valuable method of non-destructive quality control for continuous production or selected samples from production batches.
