Non-Contact Inspection of Zirconia Blanks

Ultran’s NCU products are able to detect cracks and other non-uniformities in zirconia blank disks.

Porosity measurement may have also been accomplished through the regional variation noticed.  Typically, higher transmission correlates to lower density (or higher porosity) and vice versa.

As shown in the following data, all samples exhibited varying degrees of ultrasonic transmission/attenuation.
